3.Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan (and 20,000 workers) to honor the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaj Mahal. The perfectly symmetrical edifice is set amidst landscaped gardens on the banks of the Yamuna River. Its marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints at sunrise and sunset, while it is dazzling white during the day.he Taj Mahal has been described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love. It is also India's most emblematic and famous tourist attraction. Renowned for its tree-lined reflective pond leading up to the fabulous domed roof, few know that the Taj Mahal is, in fact, a mausoleum not a mosque. Completed in 1653, it was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. The elaborate marble designs are inlaid with semi-precious stones such as jade, crystal, turquoise and coral. Many people choose to spend at least several hours here as the changing light and shadows affect the color and patterns of the Taj Mahal, and it is also possible to picnic in the tranquil gardens.

4.Great Barrier Reef

Renowned for its water clarity and coral formations, The Agincourt Reef lagoon is ideal for swimming and snorkeling and is amongst the best in the world for discovering nature's beauty. he Great Barrier Reef is the most famous marine-protected area in the world and the largest UNESCO World Heritage area. Covering a geographical area of 35 million hectares (86 million acres) and stretching approximately 2300km (1429 miles) along the coast of northeastern Australia from Bundaberg to Cape York, the Reef is bigger in size than the states of Victoria and Tasmania combined. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world and home to approximately 400 different types of coral. It is also an area of outstanding natural beauty and home to around 1500 different species of fish, 4000 types of mollusc and many endangered species. There are also more than 30 historic shipwrecks in the area and a number of archaeological sites which are of Aboriginal origin. In 2005, more coral reefs were discovered in the Gulf of Carpentaria off Australia's north coast.
































 

5.Timbuktu

Timbuktu, a mysterious city in the West African nation of Mali near the Niger River was a flourishing trading route for salt, gold, ivory and slaves. Today, the Great Mosque known as the Djinguereber Mosque is an important place for gathering and prayer. Situated 354 km (220 miles) southwest of Timbuktu on the floodplains of the Bani and Niger rivers, Old Djenne is thought to be the oldest known city in Sub-Saharan Africa. Situated along the ancient trans-Sahara trading routes, by the 16th century Djenne had developed into an important settlement in the region and a center for Islamic learning. Completed in 1907 to replace an earlier mosque, the famous Djenne Mosque (also known at the Grand Mosque) dominates the old town. Built in the Sudanic style and constructed from sun-baked mud-bricks, each year after the rainy season the entire town turn out to repair the structure at the Spring Festival. Wooden posts that adorn the structure enable workers to scale the walls during the restoration process. A traditional African market is located around the mosque's perimeter. In 1988, Old Djenne and the Grand Mosque were added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites.


































 

6.Northern Lights

The Aurora Borealis, a natural light display caused by the Earth's magnetic field is a truly magical wonder of nature. Visible near the Arctic and Antarctic equinoxes, the sheer beauty can only be described as meteorological phenomena.





































 

7.Great Wall of China

Stretching over 3,000 kilometers from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the eastern coast to the Jiayuguan Pass in the Gobi Desert, the Great Wall of China was constructed by the first Emperor to unify all of China in 221 BC. Qin Shihuang, had a workforce of up to a million people link previously existing walls from smaller kingdoms and build new sections, in order to keep out northern invaders by sheer magnitude of the ancient fortification.






















 

8.Eiffel Tower

Nicknamed La dame de fer (the iron lady), the Eiffel Tower is not only the symbol of France, but the most-visited paid monument in the world. Built in 1889 as the entrance to the World's Fair, its nighttime lights show sets the lovely Parisian mood over the river Seine.

The Acropolis of Athens, a temple sacred to "Athena Polias" serves as a prominent war memorial. Currently nearing completion on a restoration project that has taken over 35 years, the goal was to restore the natural beauty and reverse the decay of centuries of attrition, pollution, and war destruction.






















 

10.Neuschwanstein Castle

This 19th century gothic palace once serving as the personal residence of a reclusive king is now open to the public. The inspiration for "Sleeping Beauty," this romantic medieval castle gives a reminiscent view of the old German monarchy.
